Franco Panveno, Masters racer from Alberto’s, Passed Away

The ICA has received word that Franco Panveno, a Masters racer from Alberto’s has passed away after collapsing on a group ride with friends in the Libertyville area.  He was 52 years old. He was an extremely likeable racer, very active on the track and also raced cyclocross. We are unsure as yet when memorial services will be.
From David Fowkes:
When I say I knew Franco it’s in the context of as a cyclist.  He was passionate for the sport.  He rode most every discipline.  He was a long time member of the cycling scene and most every master rider knew Franco or about him.  Some have special stories, like when at a national event the hotel fire alarm system went off and all of the cyclist were forced out of their rooms and as they gathered Franco was missing.  They went to his room and there he was cooking in his room on a portable grill, they told Franco that he had to get out and Franco's response was but my food is almost done.  Yes the cause of the alarm was Franco cooking in his hotel room.  Franco was fun loving, caring, easy to get along with and will be greatly missed by those who knew him and a loss for those who never had a chance to meet him or really get to know him.

Please keep his family and his Alberto's teammates in your thoughts.
