Morton Cycling Classic and IL Cup ReCap!

Firstly, thank-you Anonymous-inflammatory-misinformation-decimating-snail-mail-letter-writer for providing our little ICA blog with a deluge of hits last week! Maybe 1 or 2 more folks raced the Morton Community Bank Cycling Classic because they saw its preview after reading my correction of your weird, mysterious and wholly untrue letter. If they did, those folks owe you a debt of thanks, as The Morton Community Bank Cycling Classic was a fun, fast, super well organized and well supported race. Thank you Proctor Cycling and Team Mack for putting on this event! The prizes went deep and the pre-reg goodie bags would be tough to beat! The Ladies even got hair ties and a bracelet! The Picky Bar which came it it was exactly what I needed between the Women's 4s and Women's Open Races.
If you didn’t notice, this weekend was a little HOT. The winner of the Men’s P/1/2/3 race was a Danish rider from Team Designa Kokken – Knudsgard. I guess the heat didn’t stop this Scandinavian rider from bringing his A game. Another surprise winner was Jeannie Kuhajek of Psimet Racing in the Masters 50+ race. In baseball you’re caught lookin’ if you strike out when you don’t swing thinking the pitch is a ball. In this case I think a bunch of young-at-heart men were caught lookin’ at Ms. Kuhajek. After that win against the boys, she rolled right back up to the start line for the women’s open race and won again, beating out Kristen Meshberg in a close sprint!
Jesse Williams has been doing a bang up job updating the Illinois Cup results and the final tally has already been posted. Congrats to ALL of the winners and runners up. Be on the lookout for info regarding our Post Road Season banquet. We are planning for this year to be closer to the end of Road Season if not before it’s even over.
As always, THANK-YOU to ALL of the officials for staying out in that heat all day so that we could have a fair and safe race!
Finally here is an interview with Jeanie Kuhajek after her back-to-back wins:
