Morton Cycling Classic Preview

Morton Community Bank Cycling Classic, the last stop of the Illinois Cup, is pretty close to being smack dab in the middle of the state. This is an ideal location. Hopefully, we’ll see racers from all corners of Illinois.

While most of the IL Cup winners are sewn up, there are few racers in 2nd place who, with a win or even less, could snatch 1st. The races  to watch in this final criterium are  the Men’s 1/2 where Robert Kelly (Bicycle Heaven) is a mere 11 points behind Kyle Selph  (Sammy’s Bike); the Men’s cat 4 where Tom Simeone (Tenspeed Hero) is only 12 points in front of Matthew Kelley (South Chicago Wheelmen), and the Junior 10-14 where Daryus Patel (xXx) has 14 points on Samuele Bianchi (Chicago Velo Campus).  Place your bets now.

The course itself is a fast four corner circuit. You can actually see a preview of part of the course on some great coverage that aired on CInewsnow.com of last year’s race. There’s more coverage of this year’s running on the Pekin Time’s website.

In addition to our regular races, there will be a Celebrity race, along with kid’s bike races and kid's big wheel races. Once you get done racing (or maybe before) you can check out some arts and crafts at a craft fair going on there.  It sounds like there will be plenty to do for the whole family.

Pre-registration is closed, but there is plenty of room in all the categories for Day-Of registrants.
