Women’s Racing

Bike Racing has been historically dominated by men, but it doesn’t have to be that way.  The Illinois Cycling Association is dedicated to strengthening the representation of women on the roads, tracks, and trails of Illinois. Community spirit is strong among women cyclists, and the ICA is a gateway into that community. No rider is too new, or question too basic for the the ICA to help find an answer.

We encourage women to come out and try racing, training rides or the many charity rides in Illinois.  For more encouragement and information, check out Chicago Women's Bike Racing at cwbr.blogspot.com and Pretty.Fast Women's Meet & Greet at pretty-fast.org.

Great Guide for Spring's Crop of New Racers

As the season gets underway, a TON of new racers will be taking to the races and roads around Illinois. Especially for them, here is a post from Half Acre Cycling's Vanessa Buccella. The post outlines her personal thoughts on criteriums and lessons from her first two years of racing. Enjoy!
